Welcome to Dewsbury District Metal Detecting Club. Our club is based at the town of Dewsbury in yorkshire, England. The site is dedicated to recovering, recording and displaying our past
The club meets regularly on the first monday of every month in mirfield. At these meetings we sometimes have a guest speaker followed by a raffle and the 'coin of the Month and artefact of the month competition.
Members bring along their finds to the meetings and these are viewed and discussed by those present. We do have some very knowledgeable members, who will always be pleased to assist with identification. Some of the finds can be seen in our competition pages.
Like other metal detecting clubs we carry out the practical side of the hobby in the form of 'Club Digs'. These take place on Saturday or Sundays throughout the year and it is fair to say that not many outings are missed. The digs are restricted to members only and members enter their finds from these digs into the 'Find of the Month' competitions. Our club will be taking part in many rallies and events around the uk in 2009 each member will have to pay a small payment to enter.
We also have the local Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) for the yorkshire region (amy cooper) The FLO comes along to many of our meetings where she records members' finds and assists with identification.
If you would like to become a member of dewsbury district metal detecting club please come to our next club meeting.
Our club is Affiliated to the "National Council for Metal Detecting"
